Celebrating Thanksgiving Day

Fancy watching more???

On Thursday 23rd November we celebrated Thanksgiving Day at school. Students learnt a lot about Thanksgiving in the USA. Besides they worked on different ways of expressing gratitude in written form. They also recorded some videos, not only in English, but also in Spanish and in other languages because there are always so many things to say thank you for!

In the art lessons, the 1º ESO students made a gratitude tree covered with autumn leaves that had a very personal hidden "thank you" message on their back. We could say that this tree is was truly piece of art itself.

In the sport lessons, students worked on Thanksgiving using mimic, gestures and movement. It's worth watching their funny video too:

As you can check, teachers also had the chance to say "thank you" in the Teachers' Thank You Corner...

In the 17th century, the English Puritans from the Mayflower wanted to thank the native American Indians for teaching them how to grow food and how to hunt in the new continent, so they made a lot of food and had a meal with them. Nowadays in America people eat a big turkey dinner with their families on Thanksgiving Day. This is why we decided to start collecting food so soon before Christmas this year: for those people in need that  await our help and solidarity.

All of us had real fun celebrating Thanksgiving for the first time at our school!!!
